Argos had a head tremor on Saturday night. This was his 5th that I have seen in the last 2 years. To give you a visual, they look a lot like somebody's head shaking that has Parkinson's disease. They last around a minute, sometimes more. The last time he had these he also had bruising. We went to the vet and discovered that he had a tick borne illness. We could not figure out when he had gotten it (we check our dogs from head to toe, inner ear to paw for ticks and fleas) but after he showed symptoms we rushed him to the vet and she treated him. The bruising and tremors went away. We figured the problem was solved.
Then, he had one Saturday night (2/4/11) that lasted for about a minute. Eyes were not dilated or different, he was alert, attentive, and fully cognizant and functional.
We took him to the vet Monday. We ran a full CBC and extra thyroid tests. The results came in today. The vet called his blood work "nearly perfect" so there is no obvious medical reason for this recent tremor. The blood work did show that the TBD is gone for sure. :) That is good news. However, we are back to square one with the mysterious tremor. The vet isn't that worried about them currently. She told me to start a journal/calendar and write down every one he has (if he has more), how long they last, his eyes, mouth, details, etc. She also requested a video if he does it again.
So, I am researching herbal supplements to help prevent seizures and I'm going to look on the bright side and be glad that he has awesome blood work.
