Argos' Sudden Surgery

4/8/2011

We found a hard lump about the size of a dime on Argos' back near his spine. After waiting a few days to make sure it wasn't a bite or something we took him to the vet Friday & she did a needle point biopsy. The results contained too many unknown cells. She did not see any mast cells (thank God!). She does not know what kind of tumor he has. He had surgery on Weds morning (and we went ahead and did a dental too so he only has to go under once). He did not have an easy surgery. He panicked really bad just going into the vet and she allowed me to stay with him until he was fully sedated and ready to go under. He woke up in a panic too. The vet had to sedate him again after it and let me pick him up early. He's been recovering well. There was a vein leading to the tumor but she got clear margins. She took a large area around the lump. We will find out this coming week what the results are. We're obviously praying for benign but if it is something worse we are praying she got it all and it doesn't come back.

Argos right after he came home from surgery.
