Lucius turned 9 yesterday. He didn't feel like running and playing yesterday so we just went outside in the nice weather and hung out and then they all got dog cake for celebration.

These ate pictures taken of him 3 months ago.
This was taken a few days before his birthday.
These were from his birthday.

You might remember that a few months back we had the privilege of fostering Delilah's littermate brother, Blaze. One again we get to host a littermate for a while. Lucius' littermate sister, Ninety, is our current foster dog. She is tiny (especially compared to her tall brother) and very sweet. She's a little white and blue brindle brood mom. She has 4 registered pups currently, one of which (Glazed Blueberry) is also up for adoption through For the Hounds. She is an easy girl and we are enjoying having her here. I wish I had been here when she showed up. I was at a dog show in Augusta. Apparently, Lucius play bowed her and kissed her. He never pays any attention to fosters so he must have recognized her. How sweet!

We decided to take advantage of the nice weather and take a few pictures.

The weather was beautiful outside today.

After Argos' trip to the vet last Monday the last thing I wanted to find was a lump on Lucius. Of course I worried considering the close proximity to his leg. When you have NGA Greyhounds the fear of Osteo looms overhead like a big, dark storm cloud. Thankfully (knocking on wood and saying happy prayers) his little lump is nothing more than a fatty lipoma. Yay! Nobody tell Lucius that he has a fatty anything though...he is a bit prissy after all.

While we were there we got Argos' and Lucius' heartworm tests, exams, vaccinations, etc done. Now for the other 3 hounds. LG gets everything in the fall time but somehow all of my hounds ended up being due for everything in the spring.

So...5 hounds needing vet care (plus tests for seizures and lumps) = sad, hurt bank account. The silver lining is that so far (knocking on wood again) everyone is doing well and getting good news. :)

On a side note, OSU was contacted about Argos' head tremors. I haven't heard back but I know that Dr. Couto was doing Galgo health studies so I'm sure he is glad to be filled in.
